There are many signs and symptoms that could be indications for mental health checkup, or check in, for children. It can get a bit confusing for parents. Mara welcomes Dr. Aviva Alyeshmerni for this week’s episode, to share some tips to help parents support their children in creating healthy mental habits.
Dr. Aviva Alyeshmerni, known by her patients as Dr.Vivi, is a Concierge Pediatrician in Orange County, California. Her focus is on early identification of signs and symptoms of compromised health, by listening carefully and gathering comprehensive information, to prevent and treat illnesses effectively.
Dr. Alyeshmerni graduated with honors in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1998. While working towards her Masters degree in 1999, Dr. Alyeshmerni investigated hormonal effects on neurodegenerative processes at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Alyeshmerni then spent two years teaching AP Biology and coaching Cross Country Running at Crossroads High School in Santa Monica, California.
In 2005, Dr. Alyeshmerni graduated from New York University’s affiliated medical school program at Tel Aviv University, Israel. After returning to the University of California, Irvine, to complete her Pediatric Residency, Dr. Alyeshmerni spent six months working and carrying out research at the Orthopedic Surgical Hospital of Los Angeles. Since 2009, while working in Orange County, Dr. Alyeshmerni has been applying her experiences in Sports Medicine as she pursues her passion for pediatrics.
Throughout Medical School and Residency, Dr. Alyeshmerni served as Class President and the Class Representative to the American Academy of Pediatrics, respectively. Dr. Alyeshmerni has been published for her work on supracondylar fractures in children, and estrogen’s effects on neurodegenerative processes.
Dr. Alyeshmerni ran competitively at Stanford and continues to compete in 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and triathlons. In addition, Dr. Alyeshmerni regularly enjoys snowboarding, surfing, camping, hiking, creating mixed media art, and traveling. Currently Dr. Alyeshmerni lives with her husband, son and daughter in Mission Viejo where they enjoy Orange County’s many trails, campgrounds and beaches.
