Are you comfortable working with your child's intuition and gifts?  Or do you experience challenges with supporting them and fostering their abilities? This week, Mara welcomes Shannon Horton to share some real life, pragmatic ways to support and empower your child with their intuition and gifts. 
Shannon Horton is an Internationally known Intuitive Spiritual Coach, Medium and Motivational Speaker; a clairvoyant, clairaudient, empathic channel who can also use psychometry in order to facilitate a reading or a healing session. She channels angels, guides and loved ones who have crossed over. 
Shannon is trained as a Reiki Master Teacher, Cranial Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist, LMT and Holistic Healthcare Practitioner. She is an Ordained Minister through Universal Ministries.   
She has expanded her spiritual healing knowledge by studying under the late Native American Shaman, Serge “Runningwolf” Martel for many years. Shannon is highly educated and is a retired Licensed Massage Therapist in Arizona and California. She is a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Progamming Practitioner. She has an Associates Degree in Holistic Healthcare through The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. This degree includes a certificate in Tui Na, which is Traditional Chinese Bodywork, and Cranial Unwinding. She has a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University, Bachelor of Arts in Complementary and Alternative Healthcare from Ashford University. She is currently working on her PhD in Philosophy in General Psychology with an emphasis on cognition and learning at Grand Canyon University. 
Shannon is passionate to help each client live the life they intend to live, to find a calling and find time for their passions and avocations in life. She just published her first book on Amazon Kindle and print called “Pocket Full of Happiness: Wisdom for a Happier Life”.  Shannon is available for appointments by phone, Zoom and in person.

Taking Anxiety Out of the Parenting Picture ~ Guest, Faust Ruggiero

Anxiety may seem like a “normal” part of parenting, but it doesn’t have to be the main focus of parenting life. This week, Mara welcomes Faust Ruggiero for a conversation about his empowering Fix Yourself Handbook and how it can help take anxiety out of the parenting picture.
 
Faust A. Ruggiero’s professional career spans almost 40 years, and is diversified and compelling, as it has consistently established new and exciting cutting-edge counseling programs in its pursuit of professional excellence and personal life enhancement. He is a published research author, clinical trainer, and a therapist who has worked in settings that have included clinics for deaf children, prisons, nursing homes, substance abuse centers, inpatient facilities, major corporations, both national and international, and as the President of the Community Psychological Center in Bangor, Pennsylvania. In that capacity, he developed the Process Way of Life counseling program, and has developed it into a formal text presented in the Fix Yourself Handbook.
 
Mr. Ruggiero also provides counseling services for first responders, law enforcement, and other emergency personnel. Following several years of experimentation regarding the various therapeutic approaches that could be applied to clients individually, in families, social relationships, and business and corporate settings, He developed and began utilizing the Process Way of Life Program. The program consists of over fifty internal human processes, which can be accessed and developed to help clients address the various conditions which were affecting their lives.In the summer of 2016, Mr. Ruggiero decided to develop the Process Life Program into a text that can be published, and would help people in need address the difficult situations that are affecting their lives.
 
The Fix Yourself Handbook was completed in December of 2019. On February 1st, 2020, The Fix Yourself Handbook received the Silver Award from The Nonfiction Authors Association. On May 2, 2020, it received the Gold Award from Literary Titan. On September 1st, 2020, it received the Bronze Award from Reader's Favorite. Mr. Ruggiero has appeared on television and radio shows, and podcasts discussing the Process Way of Life presented in The Fix Yourself Handbook both nationally and internationally.His radio show "Fix It With Faust" debuted in June of 2021.

In our modern day lives, it is imperative that we acquire and implement, and use, the “tools” that will help us work through life’s challenges – especially when it comes to our Mental Health. This week, Mara welcomes Dr. Massiel Perez-Calhoon to share some of her insights and experience on choosing (and using) tools to support our health, wellness and mental health. 
Massiel Perez-Calhoon Ed.D., has been an instructor in higher education since 2012. She earned a Doctor of Education in organizational leadership from the Chapman University system. Her dissertation examined barriers to participation in workplace wellness programs. She holds a master’s in teaching, bachelor’s in psychology, bachelor’s in spanish and a minor in education from the University of California, Irvine (UCI). As a published author and an associate editor in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Perez-Calhoon stays relevant in her field of topics such as: education, wellness, self-care, and workplace wellness programs. 
Dr. Perez-Calhoon is the Chief Executive Officer of Do Well At Being You. Her focus is to facilitate sustainable change in mindset and behaviors. She helps people know their worth to motivate them to make time for themselves. Her goal is to teach you, your employees or organization how to use evidence-based tools and processes designed to help facilitate change and growth. “By changing behaviors and one’s mindset, one gains the confidence and conviction to put themselves first to ensure physical and mental wellbeing to thrive.”

Dr. Jerry Weichman Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and adolescent specialist as well as an author, speaker and parenting expert. His clinical practice at Hoag Hospital’s Neurosciences Institute in Newport Beach, California provides a window on contemporary teen and pre-teen behavior. He also founded The Weichman Clinic and its Teen Brain Program—the first and only truly comprehensive mental wellness program exclusively focused on children and adolescents.
Author of the teen survival guide, How to Deal, and noted media expert on teen issues, Dr. Weichman is focused on helping teens cope with parents, teachers, friends and academic pressure, communicating with them in a way they understand and relate to—helping them successfully navigate the dramas and pressures of adolescence. As Senior Vice President, West Region at The Coca-Cola Company Katherine Twells currently leads a multi-million dollar business cultivating innovation and mutual growth for Coca-Cola’s customer partners. She has been with The Coca-Cola Company for 34 years serving in diverse positions of responsibility & geography and has served in leadership for over 25 years. 
Profiled in Marcus Buckingham’s bestseller “Go Put Your Strengths to Work” as well as the 2009 college textbook titled “Sales Management” by Robert Effermeyer, she is a passionate student of leadership and organizational culture. She has interviewed over 25 mission based visionary organizations to identify ways to bring entrepreneurial thinking into large corporate structures. 
Katherine is former co-chair of the Chapters committee for The Coca-Cola Women’s Forum, an inaugural member of the Women’s Advisory Council and The Coca-Cola Leadership Advisory Team. She is a former board member of The American Red Cross and NATO Cinema Foundation. 
She served as architect and host of the Coca-Cola CMO Leadership Summit from 2011-2019 to provide a source of connection and community among business leaders. In 2021 she launched The Coca-Cola Compassion Lab as a way to promote emotional agility and mental well-being in the workplace. She hosts The Compassion Lab Podcast to explore the power of conscious leadership and the interconnectivity of all things.

Supporting Kids In Crisis ~ Guest, Jessica Hubbard

It’s no secret that there are many children experiencing difficulties and even danger, at home. Thankfully, there are some amazing people and organizations offering help and hope in what can seem like a hopeless situation. This week, Mara welcomes Jessica Hubbard for a conversation about her work with Casa Youth Shelter, and her passion for supporting kids to have a safe place to heal and get help. 
In January of 2023, Jessica Hubbard was appointed the new CEO of Casa Youth Shelter, where she is focused on growing the nonprofit's vision to serve more individuals with critical counseling services, not just residential care.  
Jessica has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in education administration, and a law degree from Western State College of Law.  
Prior to joining the nonprofit industry, Jessica had an established career in higher education compliance and school administration, as well as eight years of classroom teaching experience in the public school system.  She spent the past five and a half years as the Chief Program Officer at Girls Inc. of Orange County before joining CYS this year.  
As Jessica shares about Casa Youth Shelter, "Not every youth in crisis is looking for a shelter, but every youth in crisis can benefit from counseling.  I understand firsthand the importance of having a place where you can be unburdened and begin to heal from trauma. Casa is that place.”

Setting Your Child Up for Success ~ Guest, Rhysa Suh

We are delighted to share this conversation as part of May being Mental Health Awareness month, in celebration of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, with a topic that can seem daunting for many parents – setting your child up for success.  This week, Mara welcomes Rhysa Suh to share her experiences and her expertise, and some amazing tools to empower both parents and children. 
Rhysa Suh, M.A., BCBA, is a Senior Consultant with Start Well: Mental Health Consultation for Early Care and Education.  She has partnered with programs and families across Orange County to highlight the importance of mental health in young children.  Rhysa has a background in Psychology and Sociology and master’s degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis and Criminology, Law and Society.  She is also a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and has focused on addressing challenging behaviors in preschool settings.  She has spent the past 18 years in the field of early childhood as a teacher, social skills provider, behavior specialist, mental health specialist, and parent educator.  
Rhysa is passionate about creating positive early childhood experiences for children, families, and providers in our community because it has the potential of having a long-lasting impact for us all.
