Have you wondered what behaviors are “normal” for your child, and what behaviors indicate there may be underlying mental health issues?. This week, Mara welcomes Dr. Brett Patterson to share some insights on the connections between child behaviors and mental health.
Dr. Brett Patterson is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and children in various inpatient and outpatient settings. He has been providing behavioral health support services throughout Southern California since 2002. Dr. Patterson’s primary areas of interest include cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions for adolescents and adults, parent coaching, and organization-based consultation/training services specializing in behavioral improvement. Areas of clinical training include working with common life-stressors, as well as with various diagnoses that include (but are not limited to) attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, general stress management, and coping with acute/chronic illness.
Dr. Patterson also routinely serves as an organizational consultant developing prevention/early intervention programs and providing behavior support trainings with professionals in both the commercial and non-profit sectors. Over the years, Dr. Patterson has provided more than 200 behavior-related and program development trainings for schools, conventions and organizations in Oregon, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and throughout all of Southern California.
